Greg Ouellette

Martha's brewmaster, Greg Ouellette, has been brewing at Martha's since September of 2001, and has been professionally brewing for about 10 years. Greg started brewing at home in 1992. He began by doing extensive research, mostly by reading books and talking to established professionals. Through these mediums he was able to rapidly expand his brewing knowledge. He also engaged in valuable 'research' (read 'beer drinking') over the years at various brewpubs throughout New England, and wherever he traveled. Greg still believes strongly in the power of research, you can never stop learning!

Before working at Martha's, Greg worked at Incredibrew in Nashua, a 'brew-on-premise' facility. He managed the business with the owner for 5 years. Incredibrew allowed customers to use its professional quality equipment, and the staff's knowledge, to brew their own beer and wine. It was there that he learned to formulate his own beer recipes. Greg also did a lot of experimental brewing to increase his experience with brewing.

He is currently a member of the New England chapter of the Master Brewers Association of the Americas. This association gathers several times during the year. During these meetings brewers and brewing industry allied trades swap ideas, learn new technical information, and work to promote beer culture in the region.

Greg brews about 25 different styles of beer during the course of the year at Martha's, with a rotation of regular/semi-regular brews and a number of seasonal selections. In 2005 he won his first two professional brewing medals at the Great International Beer Festival held in Providence, RI. He received a gold and a silver medal in two separate categories. back to top
